2006 Zinfandel ~ Pauline's Vineyard ~ Dry Creek Valley

Vineyard for 2006 Zinfandel ~ Pauline's Vineyard ~ Dry Creek Valley
Vineyard Pauline’s Vineyard
Location Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
Detail This sustainably farmed vineyard is located across from Timbercrest Farms—home of the Papapietro Perry Winery—at the edge of the Dry Creek Valley bench. The well-drained Yolo gravelly clay soil is aptly suited for Zinfandel. When the 100-plus-old-vines Zinfandel finally stopped producing in 1990, Randy Peters—the vineyard manager and son of the property owners Don and the late Pauline Peters—replanted the vineyard using the original Dry Creek “Mother Clone” Zinfandel budwood on the same St. George rootstock planted by his ancestors. This vineyard is thinned during verasion, limiting production to 3½ to 4 tons per acre, allowing the remaining grapes to fully ripen and express the intense flavors of a Dry Creek Zin.
